At its production site in Rotselaar, Danone is not only focused on quality dairy but also on forward-thinking water management. For years, Pantarein Water has co-managed the wastewater treatment facility. Today, this partnership results in a major upgrade with a lasting impact.
In 2023, the aging surface aerators were replaced with a fine-bubble aeration system. This modular, retractable solution is driven by ultra-efficient Turbo blowers that drastically reduce power consumption.
By closely monitoring the oxygen demand in the system and dynamically adjusting the aeration process, we managed to fine-tune the treatment operation. The payoff? An energy reduction of 3 MWh per day — without compromising effluent quality.
