Brewery Lefebvre, based in Quenast (BE), has been brewing unique and innovative beers with passion and craftsmanship for almost 150 years. Since 2015, the brewery has been working with Pantarein Water to optimize their water treatment process and make it ready for the future.
The original water treatment no longer met the brewery's needs, so Pantarein Water was brought in as an expert partner. First, it was investigated whether biogas valorization via anaerobic treatment was possible. However, tests showed that the brewery's production volume was too small for this technology.
A step-by-step approach was therefore chosen, tailored to Brewery Lefebvre's growth and ambitions. The first phase consisted of the installation of an SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) aerobic treatment, which creates granular sludge for more efficient processing through clever operation. In addition, a centrifuge was added to optimize sludge structure and facilitate discharge.
Brewery Lefebvre and Pantarein Water are already thinking about the next steps to make water management more sustainable. In the future, an MBR unit (membrane bioreactor) is envisaged, together with an RO plant (Reverse Osmosis) for even more efficient water treatment and reuse.
Thanks to this cooperation, Brewery Lefebvre is evolving step by step towards a more sustainable and future-proof water management, without compromising on quality and efficiency.
