Slibverwerking Noord-Brabant (SNB) processes about 30% of all sewage sludge generated from household wastewater treatment in the Netherlands. Treating the wastewater from this process requires special attention to nitrogen removal.
To modernize and make their treatment process more sustainable, SNB explored several innovative technologies. In 2023, a pilot project was launched with Pantarein Water to test membrane filtration as a capacity-expanding solution.
The pilot proved highly effective. The technology was adopted, and in 2024, SNB officially doubled its treatment capacity using membrane filtration.
This milestone highlights how smart partnerships and technology can drive sustainable sludge management and support circular water reuse.
