BeerSelect is a young and fast-growing Belgian brewery with a clear vision: produce a wide range of beers for different brands and clients, all while minimising environmental impact. When they opened their new site in Evergem, they made sustainable water management a key priority.
Pantarein Water developed a phased master plan for water treatment that grows with the brewery. The first phase is already in place: a compact aerobic granular batch reactor that ensures the wastewater meets the discharge standards for surface water. This granular sludge system is both space-efficient and energy-efficient – ideal for a brewery with long-term ambitions.
What makes this project special is the level of commitment from both sides. Pantarein not only designed and built the system, but also finances and operates it for a ten-year period. That allows BeerSelect to focus on brewing, while Pantarein ensures water treatment evolves alongside them.
Future upgrades include anaerobic pre-treatment, membrane filtration, and water reuse – bringing the brewery even closer to full circularity.
